This post compares Google Docs and MS Word.
There are about 25 million people in the world using Google Docs. Whereas Microsoft Word has 4.6 million users a month — earthweb.
Google Docs VS MS Word
Google Docs and MS Word do the same things. They are both primarily used for editing documents — word processors.
Two things can do the same things but one of them could be doing it better. Or they could both be having their unique selling points.
1. Accessibility
Google Docs’ full features can be accessed in any browser online. It can be accessed on Android and iOS devices.
MS Word, on the other hand, does not come alone, you have to purchase the MS 365 package that comes with other Microsoft apps like Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
MS Word also has an online version, called Word online. Though this version does not have its full features in any case.
2. Reliability
Google Docs can be accessed online, on any device, at any time. This should be a good thing. But there is a point when it is not a good thing. At times the google servers are out, or when you do not have access to the internet, you will not be able to use the Docs.
Meanwhile, MS Word documents can be used both online and offline. So that issue is sorted.

3. Ease of use
Google Docs is extremely easy to use. Its learning curve is very shallow compared to MS Word. You can learn the basics of how to use Google Docs within a day.
MS Word on the other hand is packed with lots of features. Its user-friendliness is not that friendly compared to Google Docs. But then again it offers way more features than Google docs. So there is that.
4. Saving Files
What I love about Google Docs is that it automatically saves files as I type in real-time. It has saved me enough times.
Microsoft Word on the other hand, not so much. Docs is better when it comes to saving files.

5. Collaboration
We live in an ever-connected world, which means many of us to have to collaborate with teams and coworkers remotely.
Both word processors will let you track the changes made by editors you shared your document with.
While you can download your Word doc and email it to others for collaboration, you can invite collaborators directly from your Google doc or send them a link to access your document.
It is easier to collaborate with others using Google Docs than MS Word.
Conclusion
So which is better of the two? The answer depends entirely on what you need from a word processing program or mobile app.
But they are both good word processors. Let us know in the comments which of the two you mostly use and why?
