Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. This browser is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. It has good speed, performance, best-in-class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features, it’s the only browser you’ll ever need.
Edge browser helps keep you safe online. Nonetheless, the networks you join may not be adequately secure. In such cases, Microsoft Edge Secure Network can help you protect your device and sensitive data as you browse.
Edge Secure Network is a service provided in partnership with Cloudflare.
How Microsoft Edge Secure Network works?
Encrypting your connection: Edge secure network encrypts your internet connection to help protect your data from online threats like hackers.
While using Microsoft Edge Secure network, your data is routed from Edge through an encrypted tunnel to create a secure connection, even when using a non-secure URL that starts with HTTP. By doing so, it makes it harder for hackers to access your browsing data on a shared public Wi-Fi network.
Prevents online tracking: By edge secure network encrypting your web traffic directly from Microsoft Edge, it helps prevent your internet service provider from collecting your browsing data like details about which websites you visit.

Helps Keep your location private: There are some online entities that can use your location and IP address for profiling and sending you targeted ads. Edge Secure Network lets you browse with a virtual IP address that masks your IP and replaces your geolocation with a similar regional address to make it more difficult for online trackers to follow you as you browse.
It is free to use: You get 1 gigabyte of free data every month when you sign into Microsoft Edge with your Microsoft Account. Peruse through the instructions to turn on your Microsoft Edge Secure Network.
Microsoft Edge sign-in is required to track free data usage and access Secure Network every month. Additionally, all bandwidth data that is required to provide the Microsoft Edge Secure Network service is automatically deleted at the end of the required service window.
Edge Secure Network VPN service is currently only available starting with Microsoft Edge Canary build 103.0.1255.0.
1 Firstly, open Microsoft Edge.

2 Secondly, click/tap on the Settings and more (3 dots) button, and click/tap on Secure Network. (see screenshot below)
3 Thirdly, if you are not signed into your Microsoft Account, you will be prompted to sign-in or create one.
4 Lastly, the solid shield icon will appear in the browser frame; your browsing traffic is now protected by Microsoft Edge Secure Network. (see screenshots below)
Click on the shield icon at any time to see how much data you have used for that month.
Shield icon will indicate when you have reached your limit, select the icon to see when your data will be refreshed.

5 Furthermore, the feature will turn off automatically when you close Microsoft Edge, but you can manually turn off Microsoft Edge Secure Network from the shield icon in the browser frame above.
