What is PayPal?

PayPal is simply an online payment system which allows you to make transactions without having to enter your credit or debit card information on the web.

PayPal gives users the ability to link their PayPal accounts to their own bank accounts. This makes transactions more efficient than money orders or checks.

E-bay collects fees on certain transactions. These fees are determined based on the amount of the transaction, the nature of the transaction, and the currency type of the transaction.

More to know about PayPal

1. A PayPal account is needed to receive and send.

2. Purchase Protection is available on eligible purchases. Terms and limitations apply.

3. The feature for Direct Deposit is subject to the payor’s support of this feature. The funds deposited via Direct Deposit will generally be available on the day we receive the funds’ transfer. You could review activity on your periodic statements or transaction history on www.PayPal.com to verify receipt. PayPal reserves the right to reject, accept, or limit transfers via Direct Deposit at their personal discretion.

In case you wish to cancel Direct Deposits, you have to contact your employer. PayPal does not charge any fee to maintain or set up Direct Deposit. Kindly refer to your PayPal User Agreement for complete Direct Deposit details.

After it is set up, Direct Deposit normally takes two (2) pay cycles to start but can vary across employers. Kindly check with your employer for specific timing.

The newest Direct Deposit enrollees will be eligible for early access, subject to the terms and conditions. The feature for early access will be made available to all eligible Direct Deposit customers in the coming months. This feature lets users access their funds up to 2 days early. This access to funds depends on when PayPal gets payment instructions from the payor (your employer or government agency).

If PayPal gets funds prior to the scheduled payment date, your money can be made available up to 2 days earlier than scheduled. Timing and availability can vary based on the payor and when PayPal gets payment instructions. As soon as the funds are received, they will be deposited directly into your PayPal balance.

Can you cancel payments if you make a mistake?

Irrespective of if you can cancel a payment or not, it depends on whether the recipient has a PayPal account. In case they have a PayPal account, the funds are transferred instantly and cannot be retrieved. For such scenarios, your best option is to ask the other party to send a transfer of equal value to return the funds.

Although in case the recipient does not have a PayPal account, the money will be in limbo until they create an account to claim it. This may not seem like a big safety net, but if you misspelled the address, it’s possible that it doesn’t exist and will never be claimed.

In case the address does exist, PayPal will send an email notifying them that there is money waiting for them, so be sure to act quickly.
